Today 1st August 2024 marks THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE WARSAW UPRISING 1ST AUG 1944 #weremember the brave and fallen Polish military, soldiers, pilots, citizens, children, scouts as young at 5 years old who fought #otd in Warsaw for their city, their country and for freedom. #lestweforget

Although the exact number of casualties is unknown, it is estimated that about 16,000 members of the Polish resistance were killed and about 6,000 badly wounded. In addition, between 150,000 and 200,000 Polish civilians died, mostly from mass executions. Warsaw was demolished, in flames and Poland weeps still.

‘FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM IS NEVER FREE’
When we see Warsaw remembering the people walking today through the streets of Warsaw with Polish flags to remember every life that was lost and chant calls to the dead so that the brave are NEVER FORGOTTEN we understand that The Warsaw Uprising memorial day has become more than a commemoration ceremony.

It is now a symbol to remember how important freedom is – to remember that fighting for freedom is never free and that the cruelty of both far left and far right totalitarian regimes which dismantle and rewrite history to suit dictatorship terror must be destroyed. The songs on my album Paszport reflect this topic.

Cześć i chwała niezłomnym Bohaterom Powstania Warszawskiego! Wieczna pamięć mieszkańcom walczącej Warszawy!

The Warsaw Uprising Polish: Powstanie Warszawskie was a major World War II operation by the Polish underground resistance to liberate Warsaw from German occupation in the summer of 1944, and it was led by the Polish resistance Home Army (Polish: Armia Krajowa). The uprising was timed to coincide with the retreat of the German forces from Poland ahead of the Soviet advance. While approaching the eastern suburbs of the city, the Red Army halted combat operations, enabling the Germans to regroup and defeat the Polish resistance and to destroy the city in retaliation.

The Uprising was fought for 63 days with little outside support. It was the single largest military effort taken by any European resistance movement during World War II.

The Russians did NOTHING to help the Poles fight for their city that is why they can not and never will be considered Allies as well as imposing a new reign of #russianaggression terror for Poland after WWII lasting nearly 5 decades in the Cold War . #DYK that at the end of WWII Poland was the third largest Allied military coalition force after US and UK ….
WE WILL NEVER FORGET THEIR BRAVERY 🙏 Cześć i Chwała Bohaterom! #pamiętamy
