Katy Carr Musician

On November 9th, the Polish Independence Day celebrations in Belfast featured two unforgettable concerts. The day began at the Polish Saturday School in Belfast, where British songwriter with Polish roots Katy Carr performed during the Akademia Żaka ceremony. The ceremony, led by Anna Sułek and supported by Ewa Kolakowska and Beata Dąbrowska, was graced by the presence of Paddy McAllister and Dr. Frank Sellar DL. Katy's performance included a variety of songs celebrating Polish culture and history.
In the evening, the festivities continued at Malone House with a concert hosted by the Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Belfast.

The event was a magical celebration of Polish heritage, attended by Councillor Andrew McCormick, Deputy Mayor of Belfast  and other notable figures.
Special thanks were extended to Beata Dąbrowska and Consul General Mirosław Sycz for their support. The weekend was filled with joy, remembrance, and a beautiful integration of Polish culture into the Belfast community.

Hey Haringey Creates Community,

As the year comes to a cozy close, we want to take a moment to reflect on our shared successes and the connections we've made this year. We cherish both our existing relationships and the new ones we're excited to build in the future. Here’s a roundup of our highlights from this year:

Creative Conversation 2024:
We collaborated with talented artists and arts organisations to host a variety of events, including drama, music, literature, and cultural projects. We’re already looking forward to our next round in 2025!

Cultural Education Summit 2024:
This event was a fantastic success! A huge shoutout to everyone who participated—from our insightful panellists to the engaging workshop facilitators young artist performance and the enthusiastic audience. If you missed it, check out our website for all the highlights!

Creative Careers Day 2024:
We’re excited to share that over 100 children joined us for our Creative Careers Day at Capital College! It was such a fun day filled with engaging workshops, where students explored photography, podcasting, music, and more at the various stalls we had.

Everyone had a great time, and we loved seeing both students and teachers enjoying the activities. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event so special! We can’t wait for the next one!

Collaboration with Collage Arts:
We organised a successful Artist CPD programme that continues to thrive, providing valuable resources for artists.

Teachers CPD Programme 2024: We are proud to run a comprehensive CPD programme for teachers as part of our ongoing commitment to support education and creativity in our community.

Haringey Youth Festival 2024:
Every Autumn, Collage Arts in collaboration with Haringey Shed and Jacksons Lane organises the Haringey Youth Festival where young people from across the borough come together to celebrate their talent, and the arts in general.

Always free to attend, attendees over the years have participated in a variety of workshops from different facilitators and organisations e.g. Frantic Assembly and Zoonation, including body percussion, fine art, singing, street dance, circus skills and spoken word to give them a taste of a wide range of creative possibilities. There is also a final performance from youth groups across Haringey to an audience of parents and VIPs.

The festival has taken place at Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Jacksons Lane, Collage Arts in the past. This year it is taking place at Heartlands High School in their theatre space – we can't wait!

We are grateful for your support and involvement throughout the year. If you’d like to collaborate or learn more about our upcoming events, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you all a warm and joyful winter season!

Kind regards,

Haringey Creates
