The vast majority died due to extreme climatic conditions and the gross human cruelty that they endured. Today we remember the 1 million Ukrainian children who have been stolen from their Ukrainian mothers since 24th Feb 2022 to be forcefully russified in similar conditions and the many war crimes that have been committed by Russia during Russia’s War in Ukraine. During the Daily Antidote of Song session the participants are invited to learn the artist’s song and so my lyrics were made available to all attendees. I wanted to say a big thank you to the wonderful Jo Rasi @carpediemarts for booking me to perform and the incredible musical spirit Kathy Bullock from Kentucky for hosting and encouraging such a deep heartfelt experience where we could discuss ancestral trauma in such a safe space. Thank you SO MUCH also to Rik Palieri for arranging this opportunity. Rik is a great Polish American musician and check out his music if you can:) – if anyone would like to watch the event again please click on this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mOAE9uQ41A

✨ WE REMEMBER

 RIP EDMUND SZYMCZAK

I am very sad to hear of the passing of my wonderful friend the Polish WWII Veteran Edmund Szymczak (b 1923 -2023) who was one of the last remaining living soldiers of the Polish II Corps and a veteran of The Battle of Monte Cassino. We met many times as I performed to the veterans on countless occasions over the past decade and I listened and absorbed their incredible life stories. After WWII Polish military personnel were exiled and banned from returning to Poland by the Communist authorities who presided during the Cold War. Edmund like so many Polish WWII veterans remained in exile as his country was lost 🙁 and decided to settle in the UK.

I had the great pleasure of performing for his 100th Birthday this year on Jan 29th 2023 It was a wonderful occasion  and he was very moved to hear me sing again for him the famous Polish song Czerwone Make Na Monte Cassino which is a very difficult song to sing – The Red Poppies on Monte Cassino. I loved performing and was the only artist to sing a set of historic Polish songs for him at this event. What an honour – one that I will never forget. RIP Edmund may the angels guide your soul safely on.
