Thankyou! Thankyou! Thankyou 2009! and hearty cheers to all of you good people. Wishing you a very, merry festive season and may all your dreams come true in 2010 – just think a decade ago we were celebrating the beginning of a new century, how time flies….
I have relished this 2009th year on the planet and i look forward to the next one with great glee… (forgive me please for sounding a little bit Victorian here, as it is most probably due to the fact that I have been hugely inspired by my neighbour and legend that is Mr. Sherlock Holmes who lives at 221b Baker Street, London Town).
The release of my third album ‘Coquette’
Getting back to the nitty gritty of the music world and all that makes the machines of the music industry tick smoothly around, I can quietly confess that it has been a marvellous year for my little songs and musettes to make their presence and be born into the world that celebrates song writing this year. Yes they, my songs, popped out in the form of my album ‘Coquette’ and were released on 9th November 2009. In fact the goodwill for their survival has been growing daily. Not only have they procured no less than 4/5 star reviews in the mainstream British music press, with quotes like, ‘this is Carr’s most fully formed music yet’ Mojo, ‘Original and fascinating work,’ Daily Express, ‘Exquisite, original and lovely,’ Psychologies they have also been listened to and written about by all you lovely people. Those of you who may have wondered knowingly, or randomly into our gigs – namely out ‘Points of the Compass Tour,’ also showed my band ‘The Aviators’ incredible support so many thanks for this x x
Kazik and the Kommander’s Car Documentary
In August this year I had the remarkable opportunity to meet the person who inspired a song of mine called, ‘Kommander’s Car.’ Mr. Kazimierz ‘Kazik’ Piechowski is the narrator character in my song and to have had the opportunity to meet him and present my song to him was the most incredible and emotional meeting. Words cannot describe how I felt to play my song to Kazik for the first time and watch and listen to his reactions to my music. I am happy to share the three parts of the documentary with you. The film had it’s debut screening at The Imperial War Museum’s 9th Short Film Season in Nov and Dec 09.
Kazik and the Kommander’s Car (2009) A documentary about a Polish boy scout, Kazimierz Piechowski, who was imprisoned in Auschwitz concentration camp and then made a daring escape. Directed by Hannah Lovell and produced by Katy Carr. Katy Carr’s song about the escape provides the soundtrack for parts of the film. The film was inspired by the Holocaust exhibition at IWM

Our film is also shortly going to be presented in Warsaw [details to follow] as part of the 65th Anniversary at the end of Jan 2009 to commemorate the liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp. I have been asked to perform my song ‘Kommander’s Car’ at the occasion.
