KATY CARR W MDK W ŁAŃCUCIE
W poniedziałek 26 marca w MDK w Łańcucie gościła Katy Carr, angielska piosenkarka polskiego pochodzenia. Przyjechała na zaproszenie Łańcuckiego Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku, aby wykonać recital oraz zaprezentować swój film dokumentalny ukazujący historię spektakularnej ucieczki z obozu w Auschwitz.
Film opowiada o brawurowej ucieczce z Auschwitz, która udała się niewielu. Z tej “fabryki śmierci” próbowało uciec 802 więźniów – udało się 144, wśród nich był Kazimierz Piechowski z Tczewa. Wraz z kolegami-współwięźniami wykradli mundury SS i samochód komendanta. Niesamowita historia zainspirowała angielską piosenkarkę polskiego pochodzenia, Katy Carr,która jest również pilotem, oficerem RAF, czyli Królewskich Sił Powietrznych.

From my youth up I never liked the city. I never forgot the mountains where I was born.
The world caught me and harnessed me And drove me through dust, thirty years away from home.
Migratory birds return to the same tree. Fish find their way back to the pools where they were hatched.
I have been over the whole county, And have come back at last to the garden of my childhood.
My farm is only ten acres.
The farm house has eight or nine rooms. Elms and willows shade the back garden.
Peach trees stand by the front door. The village is out of sight.
You can hear dogs bark in the alleys, And cocks crow in the mulberry trees.
When you come through the gate into the court, You will find no dust or mess.
Peace and quiet live in every room. I am contented to stay here the rest of my life.
At last I have found myself.

Katy Carr will be talking about her recent film and music releases – including Kazik and the Kommander’s Car and her album Coquette which was nominated alongside Kate Bush, PJ Harvey Arctic Monkeys amongst other big British music names for the London Music Award 2012. Katy will also be talking about her forthcoming release of her 4th album entitled Paszport – inspired by stories of the Polish Partisans on WW2.
