Hello lovely people!!
Spring is here and how beautiful the world is! March has been a very productive month and i am very happy to share some of the highlight moments with you…..
It is with great pleasure that I have the opportunity to play on BBC Radio 4 – Clive Anderson’s Loose Ends show on 3rd March with my group Katy Carr and the Aviators – to listen to the show and here a listen to a live version of us performing Kommander’s Car click here
I had a wonderful concert in Coalway, on 10th March so big thanks to all who contributed to making the performance so special.
On 12th March I had the great happiness to be invited to the Polish Radio Verulam station 92.6FM, and announce that my song Kommander’s Car was the first song written by a Brit [with Polish roots] to reach their top 20 Polish Radio Chart.
In mid March i played at my dear friend Martin Redfern’s retirement party on the King Edward Thames River boat and I wanted to thank you Martin for a lovely event and here’s joy and happiness for the road that lies ahead. You have made a remarkable contribution to producing some of the best Science programs at the BBC over the last three decades and you will be deeply missed.
I also wanted to thank King’s College, London for allowing me to present my paper, ‘Music Links Generations and Cultures’ at the Multiculturalism and Music in Britain seminar.
In addition my recent trip to Poland last week was a great success. Not only did I perform at two wonderful concert spaces, the Biblioteka Kolbuszowa, Library in Kolbuszowa, near Rzeszów and Miejski Dom Kultury in Łańcut [for links to a review of the Łańcut concert click here] but I was also featured on Poland’s national TV channel, TVN – click here to watch Katy carr on Dzien Dobry TVN
I will also be sharing with you the interview I did on Radio Rzeszów in the forthcoming weeks as it will be broadcast next week
We’re so excited about the concerts and events we’ve got coming up – celebrating the heritage of both Great Britain and Poland through new music, film and art, not to forget that Katy Carr and the Aviators are also nominated for the London Music Awards 2012 – alongside Kate Bush, PJ Harvey, Artic Monkeys, Metromony, Ed Sheeran and Laura Marling.

– ‘Carr is a fine example of that much-maligned beast we call Authenticity…’
– ‘Her idiosyncrasy as a musician meant she’d have to forge ahead under her own steam – even the most avowedly avant labels fight shy of butterflies they can’t easily net… ‘
– ‘She’s a true original, standing out like the spark generated by a Swan Vesta applied to a cigarette in the Blackout.’
