I met Mr. Edward Moonshine this weekend through the lovely Kim and was very pleased that I played to such a lovely crowd at TITTYFEST2. This festival was on a prime private site surrounded by golden crops of barley and wheat near Boxted the other side of Bury St Edmunds [near Cambridge, UK]. In a couple of words – absolutely divine! The people, food, entertainment, Tarantism, Katy Carr, Nev Hawkins, The orchestra of love and redemption, The Fourth Four, One footshank reggae sound system were all fantastic!

I have to say that in general I have really enjoyed playing a wide variety of smaller music festivals on new sites in the last ten years as some of which are in the most beautiful countryside. You can really get to know your audience and become involved in local events and more importantly taste the fine local home brews, moonshine in America or here say – wine made from all sorts of British fruit – elderberry, rhubarb, blackberry. This weekend I tasted some great Suffolk Ale and even managed to extend my welcome to today – and managed to get the opportunity to taste the glorious Engish countryside for a couple more days – waqtching herds of dear and witnessing a most beautiful full moonlit sky on Sun night

It certainly was according to Mr. M’s flier

“A most excellent musical weekend

for all my special friends”

and i hope I can help with the lineup next year – all the best to you lovely people! x x x kc x x x x

I will be singing at 3.30pm in the teadance reception during the interval of ‘Metamorphoses’ which is a theatre piece telling all of Ovid’s Greek myths, set in the 1940s and full of live music, puppetry and tricks. We are taking it to Edinburgh and are holding some fundraiser performances at Greenwich Theatre, Croom’s Hill, London SE10 8ES tel 020 8858 7755

Pants on Fire’s latest actor-musician extravaganza relocates Ovid’s epic stories of miraculous transformation to 1940‘s wartime Britain…

Theseus – a tormented soldier in a lost land; Narcissus – an iconic Hollywood film star; Echo – a gossipy housewife who’s digging for more than just victory; the Chorus – Andrews-like sisters finding close harmony amid cosmic chaos. Heroics, love, gods, monsters and the secrets of the universe revealed through gasmasks, gramophones, live original music and song, puppetry and film. Dynamic, magically moving and darkly comic storytelling. A change is going to come.
‘Metamorphoses’ is likelt to do well at Edinburgh this year with subsequent performances later in the year with acts, dancing and cake stalls and I will be collaborating more with them later on in 2010 20111

My friend Vit sent me this message and I am sharing it with you – 15 people are on death row awaiting death by stoning in Iran, but yesterday a woman was saved from this brutal killing by a massive international campaign. Global voices of condemnation saved her from stoning. There is an urgent petition you can sign to the Iranian government to put an end this sickening brutality once and for all and I thought you would want the link.

http://www.avaaz.org/en/stop_stoning/98.php?cl_taf_sign=6fv91DBE

Dear Friends,

Last week an Iranian woman, Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, was saved by global protests from being stoned to death.

But she may still be hanged — and, meanwhile, execution by stoning continues. Right now fifteen more people are on death row awaiting stoning in which victims are buried up to their necks in the ground and then large rocks are thrown at their heads.

The partial reprieve of Sakineh, triggered by the call from her children for international pressure to save her life, has shown that if enough of us come together and voice our horror, we may be able to save her life, and stop stoning once and for all. Sign the urgent petition now and send it onto everyone you know — let’s end this cruel slaughter NOW!

http://www.avaaz.org/en/stop_stoning/98.php?cl_taf_sign=6fv91DBE

Sakineh was convicted of adultery, like all the other 12 women and one of the men awaiting stoning. But her children and lawyer say she is innocent and that she did not get a fair trial — they state her confession was forced from her and, speaking only Azerbaijani, she did not understand what was being asked of her in court.

Despite Iran’s signing of a UN convention that requires the death penalty only be used for the “most serious crimes” and despite the Iranian Parliament passing a law banning stoning last year, stoning for adultery continues.

Sakineh’s lawyer says the Iranian government “is afraid of Iranian public reaction and international attention” to the stoning cases. And after Turkey and Britain’s Foreign Ministers spoke out against Sakineh’s sentence, it was suspended.

Sakineh’s brave children are leading the international campaign to save their mother and stop stoning. Massive international condemnation now could finally stop this sickening punishment. Let’s join together today across the world to end this brutality. Sign the petition to save Sakineh and end stoning here:

In hope and determination,
